Blogging has new names now

Very few people search about blogs and blogging platforms now. I searched for recent asks about blogging platforms on twitter or reddit, there are very few results. A new post comes every fortnight or so. I look for such posts that so I can help people discover lykhari.

Blogging has a new name I believe. New and younger audience looks up to social media. Influencers, creators and their platforms has replaced blogging. Even if they are doing the same thing. Tumblr was once used for microblogging just like Twitter. Instagram for photography blogs. Substack for writers. Even though substack is close to traditional blogging but it has become more social and closed platform than a blog site.

With all that blogging still has a place. Every person still needs a permanent home on internet. The socials aren't permanent. You can get blocked. Platform goes down. Remember MySpace? Facebook is kept alive by ageing population. Tiktok has grabbed market share from Youtube and others. But a blog site is permanent home. Everyone needs a corner on internet. You see it in form of link in bio tools. People linking all their online presence. Social platforms are closed. Blogs are open. Twitter penalizes links. Instagram only allowed one (until recently). Navigating away from socials is frowned upon. Everyone platform wants to keep their audience.

Blogs are open. They link to other websites. No gatekeeping. That's the beauty. Which is why I think substack and medium is not a good option. They are building closed platforms. Opt for open platforms, like Ghost or Lykhari.

Buy a domain name, hook it up to a blogging platform and build a consistent permanent corner on the internet.

Your digital home. A creator's hub.

Go social but go home as well. It's only lindy.
